William V. Ranous (12 de marzu de 1857, Nueva York – 1 d'abril de 1915, Santa Monica) foi un actor y direutor cinematográficu d'Estaos Xuníos, activu na dómina del cine mudu.

Biografía

Nacíu en Nueva York, en 1907 incorporóse a la Vitagraph Company, actuando en numberoses adautaciones al cine d'obres clásiques de William Shakespeare y d'otros autores. En Vitagraph foi tamién direutor: el primer filme empobináu por él foi The Spy, una historia dramática ambientada na dómina de la Guerra de Secesión d'Estaos Xuníos. Como direutor collaboró en munches producciones con James Stuart Blackton y con Maurice Costello.

En 1908 fixo tamién xeres de producción, rodando Julius Caesar, otra adautación de Shakespeare, de la que él tamién s'ocupaba del guión.

El so trabayu como direutor llegó en 1913, anque inda siguió un tiempu actuando, anque siempres en papeles menores en comedies d'escasu relieve. En total, dende 1907 a 1915 actuó en casi sesenta películes, dirixendo cerca d'otres trenta.

William V. Ranous finó en 1915 en Santa Monica, California, mientres actuaba en Little Partner.
