ভিন্টন গ্রে "ভিন্ট" সার্ফ[১] (ইংরেজি: Vinton Gray "Vint" Cerf) (/ˈsɜrf/; জন্ম ২৩শে জুন, ১৯৪৩) একজন প্রথিতযশা আমেরিকান কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞানী, যাকে আধুনিক[৪] 'ইন্টারনেটের জনক'[৫] বলা হয়ে থাকে। তার এই উপাধিটি তিনি আমেরিকান কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞানী রবার্ট কানের সাথে ভাগ করেছেন।[৬][৭] অবৈতনিক ডিগ্রির সাথে তার এই অবদানসমূহ স্বীকার এবং প্রশংসিত করা হয়েছে। তাকে ন্যাশনাল মডেল অফ টেকনোলজি[১], টুরিং পুরস্কার[৮] এবং ন্যাশনাল অ্যাকাডেমি অফ ইঞ্জিনিয়ারিং এর সদস্যপদ সহ প্রযুক্তিগত অনেক পুরস্কার পেয়েছেন।

জীবনী

স্ট্যানফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে গণিতে ব্যাচেলরর ডিগ্রি অর্জন করে সার্ফ আইবিএম এ যোগদান করেন। তিনি সেখানে সিস্টেম ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হিসেবে কাজ করতেন। তিনি ইউনিভার্সিটি অব ক্যালিফোর্নিয়া, লস এঞ্জেলস থেকে কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞানে ১৯৭০ সালে মাস্টার ডিগ্রি এবং ১৯৭২ সালে ডক্টরেট ডিগ্রি অর্জন করেন। তিনি ১৯৭২ সালের নভেম্বরে স্ট্যানফোর্ড বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় এ তড়িৎ প্রকৌশল এবং কম্পিউটার বিজ্ঞানের সহকারী অধ্যাপক হিসেবে যোগদান করেন এবং ১৯৭৬ সালের অগাস্ট পর্যন্ত এ পদে কর্মরত ছিলেন। [৯][১০]

ক্যারিয়ারের শুরুর দিকে তিনি মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রতিরক্ষা মন্ত্রনালয়ের অ্যাডভান্সড রিসার্চ প্রোজেক্ট এজেন্সিতে (ডিএআরপিএ) টিসিপি/আইপি এর প্রযুক্তি বিকশিত করতে কাজ শুরু করেন। সার্ফ গুগলের ভাইস প্রেসিডেন্ট হিসেবেও দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। ২০১০ সাল থেকে তিনি জাতিসংঘের "ডিজিট্যাল উন্নয়নের জন্য ব্রডব্যান্ড কমিশনের" একজন কমিশনারের দায়িত্ব পালন শুরু করেন।
