Paul David Hewson, poznatiji kao Bono, odnosno Bono Voxirski je muzičar. Frontmen je grupe U2. Rođen je kao drugo dijete u porodici (ima starijeg brata Normana). Kao dječak, Paul je bio fasciniran šahom i umjetnošću. Sa 15 godina pogađa ga strašna tragedija: na djedovoj sahrani umire mu majka. Mnogi kažu da je taj događaj uveliko utjecao na njega te ga učinio saosjećajnim s ljudima koji pate.
1976. Paul se javio na oglas Larryja Mullena Jr.-a, koji je tražio članove za osnivanje benda, i s njim, Daveom Evansom (poznatiji kao The Edge), Adamom Claytonom i Dikom Evansom (Daveov brat) osnovao bend "Feedback" (kasnije U2). Otprilike u isto vrijeme Paul dobija nadimak "Bono Vox" po dućanu sa slušnim aparatima u ulici O'Connell u Dublinu (nadimak mu je dao prijatelj Guggi, danas poznati slikar).
S vremenom, Bono je izrastao u izvrsnog vokala i tekstopisca, ali, za razliku od ostalih rock-zvijezda, svoje vrijeme i novac odlučuje trošiti na humanitarne pothvate te svoju slavu iskoristiti u humanitarne svrhe (Live Aid, Conspiracy Of Hope - Amnesty International Tour, Free Burma, Jubillee 2000, NetAid, Children of Chernobil, DATA, Red Campaign).
Danas je Bono nekima više poznat kao borac protiv ekstremnog siromaštva i politički aktivist nego kao muzičar, što je stvar koju mu često predbacuju mnogi, uz obaveznu opasku da bi bolje bilo da se bavi samo muzikom. Nasuprot tome, Bono je i dalje jedna od najzapaženijih i najutjecajnijih osoba u rock-muzici.
