The 35th Separate Marine Brigade, named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Ostrohradskyi [uk] (unit number A0216), is a brigade of the Ukrainian Naval Infantry formed on May 24, 2018, based in Dachne, Odesa Oblast.

History

2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive

The 35th Marine Brigade received international headlines for its participation in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive.[4] The unit has formed part of the spearhead on the Velyka Novosilka front alongside the 25th Airborne and 68th Jaeger brigades, as well as two units of Territorial Defense.[5] The offensive has been described as a Thunder Run (referring to a similar strategy used by US personnel in the 2003 Battle of Baghdad) along the Mokri Yaly river. Using these tactics, the 2,000 man strong brigade punched a hole in Russian lines liberating the village of Makarivka.[6] Later the unit posted photos of its troops raising the Ukrainian flag over, and then posing in front of the municipal building of the village of Storozheve.[7][8][9]

Together with the 38th Separate Marine Brigade, they liberated the village of Urozhaine on August 16, 2023.[10][11]
