The flag of Penza Oblast, Russia, is a golden yellow sheet, with a green stripe at the hoist side. The golden field is charged with the oblast's coat of arms. The width/height proportion of the flag is 1:1.6; the width of the green stripe is 1/4 of its height. It has been the official flag of Penza Oblast since 15 April 2002.
Previous flag
The previous flag was official since 13 November 2002 to 15 April 2022.[4]
The previous flag was a rectangular panel, consisting of one vertical and one horizontal stripes: vertical - green (grass), horizontal — gold yellow colors. The ratio of the height of the flag to its length is 1: 1.6. The width of the vertical strip is 1/4 of its height.[5]
In the center of the yellow bar with a slight shift up and to the left to the flagpole is a symbolic image of the Savior Not Made by Hands. The height of the image is 2/3 of the height of the flag. The overall color of the image is gold yellow.
The symbolic image of the Savior Not Made by Hands (Spas Nerukotvornyy) symbolizes spirituality, unity, and national rebirth.[6]
