Hero Beauregard Faulkner Fiennes Tiffin (/fnz/; born 6 November 1997) is an English actor, model and film producer. He is most known for his starring roles as Hardin Scott in the After film series and for his portrayal of a young Lord Voldemort (played by his uncle Ralph Fiennes), in the film Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.[1]

Early life

Hero Fiennes Tiffin was born in London on 6 November 1997, the son of film director Martha Fiennes and cinematographer George Tiffin.[2] He has an older brother named Titan and a younger sister named Mercy. He does not hyphenate his name because his parents were never married.[citation needed] He was educated at Reay Primary School in Lambeth, Emanuel School in Battersea, and Graveney School in Tooting.[3] He is a member of the Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes family; his great-grandfather was Maurice Fiennes, and his uncles are actors Ralph and Joseph Fiennes.[4] His maternal grandparents were photographer Mark Fiennes and novelist Jennifer Lash.[citation needed]

Career

Prior to his acting career, Fiennes Tiffin worked in jobs as a landscaper and caterer.[5] He made his first film appearance as Spartak in the 2008 drama film Bigga than Ben. He then got the part of "11-year-old Tom Riddle" in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince out of thousands of young actors who auditioned for the role.[6] Although at least one publication alleged that his family connections alone landed him the part, director David Yates said he was cast due to his ability to find "the darker space" in his line readings, and that he did not get the role due to his relation to Ralph Fiennes, his uncle who plays Voldemort. However Yates did admit that the family resemblance was a "clincher".[7] Yates described Fiennes Tiffin as "very focused and disciplined"[8] and said he "got the corners and dark moods and odd spirit of the character"[6] as well as having a "wonderful haunted quality that seemed to bring Tom Riddle alive on-screen for us".[8]

Fiennes Tiffin then landed British television roles in Private Peaceful (2012) and Safe (2018), as well as a short independent film called Possession with intent to Supply (2016). In 2019, Fiennes Tiffin was cast in the lead role of Hardin Scott in the film After, based on the book of the same name by Anna Todd. The film's success lead to four sequels, in which Fiennes Tiffin reprised his role as Hardin Scott, After We Collided (2020), After We Fell (2021), After Ever Happy (2022), and After Everything (2023 film). The last three films were filmed simultaneously in Bulgaria in late 2020[9], due to the pandemic.

Fiennes Tiffin also played Brooks Gustafson in the action-thriller film The Silencing[10] (2020), which filmed in Canada in late 2019, [11]and Jim Albright in the romantic drama First Love[12] (2022). Also in 2022 Fiennes Tiffin was among the star-studded cast led by Viola Davis in the historical drama The Woman King.[13] In 2023 he wrapped filming on The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, which is slated for a 2024 release. His upcoming projects includeThe Climb, a film based on the 2013 Greenpeace protest where activists illegally scaled The Shard in London in protest against Arctic oil drilling[14], Fackham Hall, a comedy film written by Jimmy Carr that spoofs period dramas like Downton Abbey and Bridgerton[15], and Mr. Smith, a thriller in which Fiennes Tiffin's character returns to an Irish port to solve his brother's sadistic murder (written and directed by Declan O'Dwyer)[16].

In addition to acting, Fiennes Tiffin is signed with Storm Management and has modeled for Dolce & Gabbana, Dior, H&M, Hugo Boss, Fendi, Oliver Peoples, and Superdry.[17] In November 2019, he became the face of the Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. fragrance, Ferragamo,[18] and in 2023 he started collaborating with David Yurman.[19]

Personal Life

Fiennes Tiffin resides in South London and is an avid football enthusiast. He outspokenly supports West Ham United and even played on their team during TST 7v7 in 2023[20].
