Palenque is a railway station located between the towns of Palenque and Pakal Ná in Chiapas, Mexico. The station was built on the territory of a former airport. It is the southern terminus of the Tren Maya.

History

Andrés Manuel López Obrador announced during his 2018 presidential campaign the Tren Maya project. On August 13, 2018, he announced the complete outline. The new Tren Maya put the Palenque station on the route that would connect with Escárcega railway station.[5]

In 2022, construction of the station began.[6]

Characteristics

The architecture of the station seeks to align with these aspects and was inspired in its form and materials by elements of ancient art and vernacular architecture.[7]
