Premalatha Vijayakanth (born 18 March 1969) is an Indian politician. She is the general secretary and treasurer of the Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam. Premalatha is the wife of the late former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Vijayakanth.
Personal life
She was born in Chennai on 18 March 1969. She married Vijayakanth on 31 January 1990 and has two sons, including Shanmuga Pandian, an actor who starred in Sagaptham (2015) and Madura Veeran (2018).[1][2]
Political career
Treasurer of the DMDK
On 19 October 2018, the former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and the DMDK founder Vijayakant, announced and appointed Premalatha as the treasurer of the DMDK party in the presence of the party's deputy secretaries at the General Council Meeting held in Chennai.[3]

On 14 December 2023, the former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and the DMDK founder Vijayakant, announced and appointed Premalatha as the general secretary of the DMDK party in the presence of the party's deputy secretaries at the General Council Meeting held in Chennai.[4]
