Victorious Georgia (Georgian: გამარჯვებული საქართველო, romanized: gamarjvebuli sakartvelo), is a political party in Georgia founded by Irakli Okruashvili, a former Defence Minister of Georgia during Mikheil Saakashvili’s presidency. The party holds one seat in the Georgian Parliament.
History
The party was formed by Irakli Okruashvili, a former Georgian Defence Minister from Tskhinvali, a capital of Russian-occupied Georgian region, South Ossetia. The party joined the largest opposition coalition Strength Is in Unity and won one seat in the Georgian Parliament in 2020. The party is represented in the parliament by Gubaz Sanikidze.[1]
The leader of party, Irakli Okruashvili, joined Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2022 to fight Russian Invasion of Ukraine.[2]
Political positions
The party strongly opposes Russian migration to Georgia during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Gubaz Sanikidze called the united opposition to adopt “enlightened conservatism” to defeat the ruling Georgian Dream, criticizing "modern neoliberalism" for rejecting "god, faith, homeland and honor", thus failing to mobilize people for struggle. He blamed "modern neoliberalism" (which he differentiated from "old liberalism") for harming the West and thus helping Vladimir Putin to strengthen himself.[3]
