Clive Staples Lewis ( Belfast, Ipar Irlanda, 1898ko azaroak 29, Oxford, Ingalaterra, 1963ko azaroak 22), C.S. Lewis bezala ezaguna,  bere lagunentzat Jack, mediebalista, kristau apologista, literatur kritikoa, nobelagile, akademiko, irratiko esatari eta saiakera-idazle britaniarra da. Batez ere bere fikziozko nobelengatik ezaguna, The Screwtape letters, The Chronicles of Narnia eta Cosmic Trilogy,  baita bere saiakera apologetikoengatik ere: Mere Christianity, The Problem of Pain eta Miracles besteak beste.^[1]

Lewis J.R.R. Tolkien-en lagun mina izan zen. Egile biak Oxford Unibertsitateko  kide ospetsuak izan ziren eta “Inklings” literatura taldeko parte hartzaile gogotsuak. Bere oroitzapenetan idazten duenez, Irlandako Elizan bataiatu zuten, baina nerabezaroan fedea galdu zuen. J.R.R. Tolkien eta beste lagun batzuen eraginez, 30 urte zituenean gutxi gorabehera,  Lewis kristautasunera itzuli zen. Kristautasunera bihurtzeak eragin handia izan zuen bere lanetan, eta kristautasunari buruzko bere irratsaioak  gerra garaian oso txalotuak izan ziren.

1956an Joy Gresham (jaiotzez Joy Davidman) idazle estatubatuarrarekin ezkondu zen^[2], bera baino 17 urte gazteagoa. Hezurretako minbiziarekin hil zen emaztea lau urte geroago, 45 urterekin. Lewis hiru urte geroago hil zen, 1963an, giltzurruneko gaitz batengatik

Lewisen lanak 30 hizkuntza baino gehiagora itzuli dira eta milioika kopia saldu urteetan zehar. The Chronicles of Narnia dira gehien salduak,  teatroan, telebistan eta zineman ezagutarazi  eta ospetsu eginik. Horren adibide, 1988an BBCko telesaila, eta zineman The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe ( 2005 ), Prince Caspian ( 2008) eta The voyage of the Dawn Treader ( 2010 ). Azken hauen arrakastaren ondorioz The Silver Chair eta The Screwtape letter-en egokitzapenekin hasi dira.
