نبرد خازر نبردی است که در روز عاشورای سال ۶۷ هجری (در پی قیام مختار ثقفی) بین سپاه مختار به فرماندهی ابراهیم بن مالک اشتر با سپاه امویان به فرماندهی عبیدالله بن زیاد در شرق موصل رخ داد و منجر به شکست شامیان، کشته شدن ۳۰٬۰۰۰ اموی و عبیدالله بن زیاد شد. سر عبیدالله را بریدند و به نزد سجاد در مدینه فرستادند. ابراهیم بن مالک اشتر نیز طبق توافقش با مختار حکومت موصل را به دست گرفت.
در این جنگ نیروهای ابراهیم مالک اشتر توانستند فرماندهان بزرگ امویان شرحبیل بن ذی کلاع و حصین بن نمیر را بکشند. در این نبرد تلفات بسیار زیادی به هر دو لشکر به خصوص امویان وارد شد. همچنین از لشکر ابراهیم نیز تعداد زیادی زخمی و کشته شدند. در نبرد خازر شیعیان پیروز شدند.
