Frank Alexander Wetmore, nado o 18 de xuño de 1886 en North Freedom (Wisconsin), e finado o 7 de decembro de 1978 en Glen Echo (Maryland), foi un ornitólogo e paleontólogo estadounidense.[1][2]

Traxectoria

Naceu en North Freedom, Wisconsin, e estudou primeiro na Universidade de Kansas e, posteriormente, na Universidade George Washington.

En 1925 foi nomeado secretario adxunto da Smithsonian Institution, sendo secretario desta entidade entre 1945 e 1952.

Entre outras obras, escribiu A Systematic Classification for the Birds of the World (1930, revisado en 1951 e 1960). A súa ordenación foi amplamente aceptada, permanecendo en uso até a actualidade.
