Az Oxynoemacheilus a sugarasúszójú halak (Actinopterygii) osztályának a pontyalakúak (Cypriniformes) rendjébe, ezen belül a Nemacheilidae családjába tartozó nem.

Korábban a kövicsíkfélék (Balitoridae) családjába sorolták, azonban az újabb kutatásoknak és rendszertani átrendezéseknek köszönhetően, ezt a halnemet áthelyezték a Nemacheilidae halcsaládba.
