John Ingleby
John Ingleby (Halkyn, 1749 – Halkyn, 1808) è stato un pittore e miniaturista britannico, di origini gallesi.
Biografia
Nato nel 1749 a Halkyn, Galles, da Hugh e Ann Davies, passò quasi la totalità della sua esistenza nel villaggio natale. Aveva dieci fratelli.[1]
La sua famiglia si era trasferita dalla Cornovaglia ed aveva una fonderia di piombo: dopo la morte del padre, l'impresa familiare dichiara bancarotta.[2] Dai registri parrocchiali, risulta avere avuto una bottega di miniature ed avere dipinto alcuni acquerelli commissionati da Thomas Pennant. Morì nel 1808.[3]
Curiosità
È presente, presso la National Library of Wales, una sua ricca raccolta di paesaggi del Galles del Nord dipinti ad acquerello.[4][5][6]
