Flavonolum est flavonoidum cui est spina 3-hydroxyflavonum; eius nomen IUPAC est 3-hydroxy-2-phenylchromen-4-one. Varietas flavonolorum ex variis gregum phenolicorum -OH sitibus exoritur. Flavonola distinguenda sunt a flavanolis (nota litteram A ), sicut catechinis, alio flavonoidorum grege.
