Vita

Leo I in Thracia natus est. Marciano imperatore anno 457 mortuo Leo I Ardaburio Asparo magistro militum suadente imperator proclamatus est. Leo imperator non ut Ardaburius putaverat, facile regebatur, sed paulatim auctoritatem augebat. Quamquam filius Ardaburii Flavius Iulius Patricius anno 470 Caesar nominatus est, tamen hic cum patre anno 471 depositus est: Leo I Isaures cohortem praetorianam fecerat, et Zenoni filiam suam, Ariadnam, in matrimonium dedit, ut auctoritatem Asparis minuat. Aspar auxilio Zenonis capite damnatus est[1].
