Purpose

This template adds an external link to an entry in the Stanford Encyclopaedia of Philosophy (SEP) at plato.stanford.edu.

Parameters

Parameters: 

|url-id=the location of the entry at the SEP website. For example, the entry "Nietzsche's Moral and Political Philosophy", with the URL https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/nietzsche-moral-political/ , will be said to have the url-id of nietzsche-moral-political.

All the rest of the parameters take values as described in {cite encyclopedia} 

|title=Title of the Article
|date=date of publication of the article (use "substantial/substantive revision" date if provided);  the rest of the citations in our article
|edition=The edition name, e.g. Fall 2016 (found in the "Author and Citation Info" sidebar entry at the SEP article)
|last=Surname of the article author
|first=Given name(s) of the article author
|author-link=Wikipedia article title about that author
|last2=Additional article authors can be added, in the same format.
|first2=

|last4=
|first4=

These parameters are for future-proofing, and do not need to be used 2017—ലെ കണക്കുപ്രകാരം:

  • {1}: the location of the entry at the SEP website. For example, the entry "Nietzsche's Moral and Political Philosophy", with the URL https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/nietzsche-moral-political/ , will be said to have a location of nietzsche-moral-political.
  • {2}: the title of the entry (defaults to the title of the Wikipedia page)
  • {3}: the name of the author of the entry
  • {4}: the date the entry was last updated

Examples and usage

Suppose you want to add an external link to the SEP's article on Paul Feyerabend. The location of this entry at the SEP is at feyerabend, the title of the entry is "Paul Feyerabend", the author is John Preston and the last update is June 1, 2009.
The code:

  • {Cite SEP|url-id=feyerabend|title=Paul Feyerabend|first=John|last=Preston|date=June 1, 2009}

produces the citation:


Note: The |url-id= parameter's value is case sensitive, so:

  • url-id=feyerabend checkY
  • url-id=Feyerabend ☒N

If none of the editor- parameters are specified, Edward N. Zalta is used as the default editor [1].

deprecated usage

using these deprecated parameters like so:

  • {cite SEP|feyerabend|Paul Feyerabend|John Preston|June 1, 2009}

produces the link
