ਇਤਿਹਾਸ

ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟ ਐਰਿਕ ਮੋਲਰ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਮਾਰਚ 2004 ਵਿੱਚ ਪ੍ਰਸਤਾਵਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ।[3] ਅਤੇ 7 ਸਤੰਬਰ 2004 ਨੂੰ ਇਸਦੀ ਸ਼ੁਰੂਆਤ ਹੋਈ।[4][5] ਇੱਕ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਭੰਡਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਪ੍ਰਮੁੱਖ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨਾ ਵਿਕਿਮੀਡਿਆ ਪ੍ਰੋਜੈਕਟਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੋਸ਼ਿਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਹਰਾਓ ਨੂੰ ਘੱਟ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਛਾ ਸੀ। ਕਾਮਨਜ਼ ਦੇ ਨਿਰਮਾਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇੱਕ ਹੀ ਫਾਇਲ ਵੱਖ ਵੱਖ ਵਿਕੀਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਲੱਗ ਅਲੱਗ ਅਪਲੋਡ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਸੀ।
