The 2019 Riga Masters (also known as the 2019 Kapersky Riga Masters due tae sponsorship) wis a professional rankin snooker toornament haudit fae 26 til 28 July 2019 a the Arēna Rīga in Riga, Latvia. It wis the saxt Riga Masters event, wae the first beein held i 2013, an the first rankin event o the 2019/2020 snooker season. The defendin champion, Neil Robertson, previously defeatit Jack Lisowski i the 2018 feenal. Houaniver, Robertson an seevral ither pleyers wis forced tae withdraw fae qualifyin round matches owin tae flight cancellations, an coudna compete in the event.
Yan Bingtao defeatit Mark Joyce 5–2 i the final, winnin the event an earning his first career rankin title. Yan became the first player born after 2000 tae win a rankin event, a well a the first teenager tae win a rankin event in 13 years since Ding Junhui won the 2006 Northern Ireland Trophy aged 19. No players frae the top 20 i the world reached the quarter-finals. Lisowski scored the highest brak o the toornament, a 145. The event had a total prize fund o £278,000 with the winner receivin £50,000. Qualifyin fae the event wis held atween 10 an 13 June 2019 a the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, Ingland.
Format
The tournament wis played frae 26 to 28 July 2019 a the Arēna Rīga i Riga, Latvia.[1] The event wis organised by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, and sponsored by Kaspersky Lab.[1] Matches wae played as best-o-seven frames until the semi-feenals, which wae best-o-nine frames.[1] The quarter-feenals, semi-feenals, an feenal wae all played o 28 July. The event wis broadcast on Eurosport Player (Pan-Europe); NowTV (Hong Kong); Truesport Thailand; an Superstars Online, Youku, an Zhibo.tv (China).[2]
Prize fund
The prize fund wis slightly increased frae the 2018 event. The champion still received £50,000, but the total prize fund increased frae £259,000 to £278,000, as follows:[3]
