The toornament i the tenth rankin event o the 2019–2020 snooker season. It is the 14t edition o the German Masters, first held in 1995 a the 1995 German Open, discontinued efter 1998 and revived a the German Masters i the 2010–11 snooker season.
Kyren Wilson wis the defendin champion efter defeatin David Gilbert 9–6 in the 2019 final, but lost 4–5 tae Zhao Xintong in the seicont qualifying roond.
