Dio wis an American hivy metal baund led bi vocalist Ronnie James Dio formit in 1982 efter he left Black Sabbath wi intentions tae form a new baund wi fellae umwhile Black Sabbath memmer, drummer Vinny Appice. The name Dio wis chosen acause it made sense frae a commercial staundpoint, as the name wis awready well-kent at that time. Dio means "God" in Italian.[1]

The baund dissolvit in 2010 when Dio dee'd o painch cancer.
