In the year 2021, plans wur pit oot for the renovation an expansion o the station, as pairt o Serbia’s government ettles tae revitalise an modernise the rail infrastructure in the kintra, includin the introduction o high-speed trains.[1] The renovation includit upgrades tae the lines, the biggin o a new platform, an a complete overhaul o the main biggin wi additional lifts for the disabled. Wirk began in September 2021.[2]

The Government o Serbia declared 2 November 2024 as a day o mournin, whiles Novi Sad declared three day o mournin.[7] The Republika Srpska also declared a day o mournin.[8]

The President o Hungary, Viktor Orbán, expressed condolences tae Serbia an the faimiles o the victims.[9]

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić cried oot for political an criminal responsibility cur the mishanter.[10] The Chinese consortium that did the renovation said that the shelter wisnae part o the renovation.[11]
