Runavík is a comparatively urbanised veelage in the Faroe Islands. It lees on the sooth hauf o the isle o Eysturoy. The municipality o the same name incorporates 14 settlements[2] includin Æðuvík, Rituvík, Saltangará, Glyvrar, Lambi, Lambareiði, Søldarfjørður, Skipanes, Skáli, Skálafjørður, Funningsfjørður, Funningur, Elduvík an Oyndarfjørður which thegither form a lang, narrae residential connurbation ower 10 kilometre lang follaein the east bank Skálafjørður (a fjord). As o 2010 the municipality haed a total population o 3,797 inhabitants,[2] a rise o ower 100 in five years. This maks it the third lairgest toun in the Faroe Islands.
Port
Foondit in 1916, Runavík haes an important port, oreeginally uised predominantly bi fishin boats but nou an aw a key supply base for the North Sea ile industry as well as a trans-shipment port for freight tae an frae Europe.[3] The harbor unnerwent development in the late 1990s.[4]
