According to Hinduism and Hindu mythology, Brahma is one of the three major gods of Hindus. Brahma is said to be the creator of the whole universe. The other two gods are Vishnu, the preserver, and Shiva, the destroyer.
Hindu traditions always say that Brahma originally had five heads. However, the mythological story in the Shiva Purana tells that Shiva had cut of the fifth of Brahma because he lied that he had found his begining, saying that he had found the begining of his form of a fire pillar named Lingodbhava and that actual fire pillar was Shiva's manifestation as a Linga that occupied the entire universe as he was the supreme god in Hinduism, and he is the sole reason for the creation of Brahma by creating him. He had not found it, for he had no powers to find it and got tired and, but he had come only to the highest heaven of Satyaloka and not to the Transcendent supreme god Shiva's top.[1] The tradition also states that the then remaining four heads of Brahma came to represent many aspects of Hinduism and his fifth head was fused inside his body on the top of his four heads as containing all Itihasas and Puranas inside it after Vishnu told him to do so then and cursed him that he will not be worshipped on this Earth now and that curse was destroyed by Shiva when Vishnu and Brahma worshipped him together with Vishnu's instructions to both of them.[2] The four heads of Brahma created the four Vedas. The four heads of Brahma recite the four Vedas. These four heads of Brahma also represent the four periods of time, the Yugas.
