Eurovision Song Contest 1956

The Eurovision Song Contest 1956 was the first edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It was held in Lugano, Switzerland. The event was hosted in Italian by Lohengrin Filipello. Seven countries participated, the least out of any Eurovision edition. Each country sent in two songs and they were judged in secret by a panel of experts called "the jury".

The points of each country were not revealed, with only the winner being announced at the end. There were fourteen jury members who each got one vote.
