Kursk (Russian : Курск ) is a city in Russia . It is the capital and the largest city of the Kursk Oblast . It is about 400 kilometres (250 miles) south of Moscow . Kursk is where a large tank battle happened in World War 2. Three thousand German tanks and five thousand Soviet tanks attacked each other. The Soviets won the battle.
