Nyla Rose (born August 3, 1982) is a American professional wrestler. She currently wrestles for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

During her time in AEW, Rose has been a one-time AEW Women's World Champion.

Career

All Elite Wrestling

In February 2019, Rose signed a contract with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). She became the first openly transgender wrestler to sign with a major professional wrestling promotion in America.[1] At Double or Nothing, Rose made her AEW in-ring debut. She was defeated by Britt Baker in a four-way match that also featured Kylie Rae and Awesome Kong.[2]

At Fyter Fest, Rose turned heel when she attacked Riho and Yuka Sakazaki after her loss in a three-way match.[3]

On the February 12, 2020 episode of Dynamite, Rose fought Riho for the AEW Women's World Championship. Rose would defeat Riho and become the new champion. This was Rose's first championship in AEW. With the win, Rose became the first transgender woman to win a world championship in a major American wrestling company.[4] At Double or Nothing, Rose lost the championship to Hikaru Shida.[5] Rose would enter an eliminator tournament for the AEW Women's World Championship. She would make it all the way to the finals. On the March 3 episode of Dynamite, Rose would go on to lose to Ryo Mizunami in the finals.[6]

Personal life

Rose is transgender. She is of both African American and Native American decent, being part of Oneida heritage.[7]

In 2016, she was in 6 episodes of the Canadian television show The Switch.
