Otto Schenk (12 June 1930 – 9 January 2025) was an Austrian actor, and theater and opera director. He was born in Vienna, Austria. His career began in 1953. Schenk appeared in over 30 movies (mostly in German). He was known for his lavishstage roles at the Metropolitan Opera, most notably his production of Richard Wagner's four-opera epic Der Ring des Nibelungen.
Schenk starred in the stage version of Lily Brett's Chuzpe at the Kammerspiele Theatre in Vienna.[1]
Schenk was known for his movie roles in Always Trouble with the Reverend (1972) and in Reigen (1973). His best known stage role was in Arabella (1977).
Schenk died on 9 January 2025 at his lake house in Salzkammergut, Austria at the age of 94.[2]
