Roanne is a French commune, a subprefecture in the Loire department in central France. It is in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. It is also the capital of the arrondissement of Roanne.
Geography
The commune of Roanne is in the north of the Loire department and has an area of 16.1 km2 (6.2 sq mi).[2] The average altitude is 281 m (922 ft) and the city hall is an altitude of 278 m (912 ft).[3]
