RD1 request
(Please let me know if there's a better way to request RD1s here.) Boreas and Zephyrus both need cv redaction. Special:Diff/9956329 onward is from [1], Special:Diff/9893548 onward from [2] and [3]. The account is blocked as a sock on en-wiki: [4]. -- Asilvering (talk) 04:46, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- While I'm at it, there are a number of articles by W;ChangingUsername that are copied from the NHS website. The text has been removed already, but it should also be RD1'd. Since most of their articles were created before they were warned about this, I expect the issue affects all of them. I got here via Copypatrol dinging Chlorphenamine. -- asilvering (talk) 05:13, 28 January 2025 (UTC)
- Ok, I started making a list of the articles by this editor that need revdel, but actually, they're all QD candidates, looks like. So you can save your erasers (and use dynamite instead). I know none of them look like much right now, but if you don't QD them, you'd have to a) rewrite the stub and b) revdel most of the history anyway. But there's still a bit of eraser-work to do:
- Loratadine, everything from 14 June
- Period pain (Dysmenorrhoea), everything up to the redirect
- Sinusitis, from 7 June up to the most recent edit
- Metoprolol, everything up to the most recent edit
- Warfarin, everything from 2 June up to Auntof6's removal of the content
- Sorry in advance about your erasers. -- asilvering (talk) 06:26, 2 February 2025 (UTC)
- Some more:
- Allergy, everything from their first edit on 2 June up to my edit
- Diazepam, everything from their 1 July edit to Davey2010's first edit
- Abdominal pain, everything from their first 1 June edit up to my edit
- Hyperthyroidism, everything from their 12:22 edit on May 29 (ie, including the edit "Symptoms final" but not the two previous ones) up to my edit - this is from a variety of sources, incl [5], [6], possibly some non-NHS stuff (copypatrol dings [7])

Kelly299 and 93.182.105.236 - block request
So Kelly299 creates an account and immediately replaces images of tanks with Turkish ones and then starts replacing pizza images with Turkish pizzas as well as removing "Greek" from types of Pizzas[14][15][16]
Two minutes later 93.182.105.236 joins in in the edit war removing the same content[17][18][19][20],
In the edit war Kelly has claimed the content is racism and the IP is claiming "keeping Greek instead of Turkish is nationalist POV",
The IP has also made previous Greek-to-Turkish replacements:[21],
I'm assuming Kelly is the IP and I'm assuming the IP is an LTA or someone, Anyway could these be blocked please, Thanks –Davey2010Talk 16:32, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

- Hi @Davey2010 the IP has been blocked already but Auntof6. Things were turning heated on a simple article, I was to the point of edit war was happening between me and the IP. tampering of pages listing coups d'etat and attempts
On the articles “list of coups and coup attempts by country”, “list of coups and coup attempts” and “list of coups and coup attempts since 2010” a user by the name tgeorgescu (and possibly a few others) has been editing the articles to claim some some very recent political events are indeed coups, as well as some historical events, even tho there is nothing to corroborate these claims.
These include:
The 2019 Bolivian political crisis
The Romanian Revolution
The Abkhazian Revolution
Euromaidan
Claims by Serb Prime minister Vucic that there was a coup against him in 2024
Claims by Slovak Prime minister Fico of a coup against him
The 2024 Bangladesh Revolution
Coup allegations in Georgia
Accusations that the president of Romania is doing a self coup
All of these edits seem to be done for the purpose of a specific political agenda. I talked to Georgescu about his inclusion of Euromaidan, stating that it was a common argument of russian propagandists to paint it that way. he responded by claiming a revolution and coup are the same thing. I childishly responded by telling him to fuck off and that he was a tankie (disgraceful on my part). He kept repeating his claims in response.
A few days Before I learned of Georgescu’s edits, I noticed some vandalism of these articles, and then uprgraded the protection level for the last two articles I mentioned before. This has not worked. I contacted a user named Vrotsky who thanked me for an edit the other day, about the situation. He said the following:
"Hello, dear user. Yes, I've noticed the addition of controversial content to the various coup d'état wikilists - and it's much worse than it seems. These lists are recently receiving massive edits by IP users and sockpuppets. And it goes far beyond Euromaidan - they've added content about the Arab Spring revolutions, the 2000s-2010s 'Color Revolutions' and modern protests to the list. I'm one of the users who is trying to preserve the page's neutrality, but a lot of content was added in a short time. Well, there are several ways to combat vandalism on Wikipedia. In this case, you can use the WP:Coup argument or start a session on the article's talk page. If you suspect a user is making disruptive edits or vandalism, you can report them. A common behavior of this type of user is to reinsert deleted content without providing an explanation."
Another problematic user is Cobra Portuga, who is making the same sort of edits and only replies in Portugese when questioned about this.
I request that Georgescus and Cobra Portugals edits in general be reviewed, and for them to be banned. Sorry about the wall of text Bird244 (talk) 00:07, 10 February 2025 (UTC)

Suggest protecting Gulf of Mexico and Gulf of America
This has already been discussed on the talk page (Talk:Gulf of Mexico). Many editors think that the title has to be Gulf of America just because the official name changed in the US. That reasoning has been rejected and people don't seem to realize that Wikipedia is not a USA-Wikipedia where titles can be determined by whatever the President of the United States decides. 205.154.244.130 (talk) 22:43, 13 February 2025 (UTC)

If you want to edit the user page of a different account you control, you must switch accounts and use the account for which the user page belongs. Griff (talk) 02:06, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

- It seems like it would be easier to log in on the same account on all devices. Either way, this does not require administrator attention. Griff (talk) 12:43, 17 February 2025 (UTC)

Admin Gadgets
Can an admin add |rights=delete
to userrights
gadget as well in MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition#admin-gadgets? That will make sure the gadget is only visible for admins, only one who can change user rights. Bunnypranav (talk) 10:58, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

Requests
Hi! Could you:
- Indefinitely protect User:Magnolioideae and delete all her subpages (except for the archives, as I want to keep them standing)
- Also, she is me, just to clear up any confusion. However, the account is inactive
- Revdel this diff as it's disturbing and meets the second criterion.
- Revdel the disturbing edits by this IP as they are always inserting content that meets the revdel's second criteria.
Thank you. ⯎ Asteralee ⯎ 15:18, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

Request of protection of Wikipedia:Change filter mistakes
i think you all should protect the Wikipedia:Change filter/Mistakes page mainly because frequent vandalism occurs there and the reason why i said the change filter mistake on simple talk its because i am scared of being a victim of vandalism due to frequent vandalism there so i hope you all understand. 179.109.143.137 (talk) 22:06, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- I agree the vandalism on there is atrocious (and I've now deleted this) however protecting it stops legitimate reports like this one from being posted.
- Regarding not posting on Simple talk; This noticeboard has got 2k views yesterday and 3k on Thursday .... your talkpage can be vandalised no matter where you post ?.... –Davey2010Talk 23:14, 15 February 2025 (UTC)
- well my talk page isnt vandalized (thank god) but i like any new editor is still scared of vandalism 179.109.143.137 (talk) 23:16, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

- ok i think i will not just involve myself in reversions just focus on making car articles the reason why i am scared is the bad things vandals are saying to editors on their talk pages anyways good luck with your contribuitions best regards. 179.109.143.137 (talk) 23:26, 15 February 2025 (UTC)

Due to a complete non understanding of QD criteria I have banned them from tagging QDs for 6 months. If anyone sees them break this then the correct response is a site wide block for 6 months. Thanks fr33kman 00:10, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

Does How to Make Flags Tutorial qualify for some kind of quick deletion? I'm not sure what to nominate it for. It's definitely not an article, but it could be a help page. 192.83.149.205 (talk) 21:26, 19 February 2025 (UTC)

12 hour block, or block from mainspace
Hanteng X8. Suggestion, give the user a 12-hour block or longer.--Still creating articles that are not ready to publish.--Or block from mainspace, and then can forward articles thru talk page.--Current justification for QD: Not ready for publishing. Not okay. Does not have the bare minimum of what is needed, to stay published.--Serial offender, it seems: Partial copy NOT already given back to s/he who started the 'article'. 2001:2020:351:CADD:25E8:2069:35C0:90C0 (talk) 09:31, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- 2001 obviously has an axe to grind for some weird reason - 179.109.143.218s articles aren't perfect but they need help and guidance .... not 12 hours blocks over things they've not been told about, I will say in 179s defence their articles are a lot better than what they used to be (although agreed still not perfect).
- @Fr33kman, Just wondering if Hanteng X8 should have been deleted as it currently has an article at en:Hanteng X8, I don't know what the article looked like but I'd be happy to fix it accordingly, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 17:53, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
- @Davey2010 - no axe to grind, LOL.--If i contact your talk-page, and mention some articles - and if the number of messages are not to your taste, then all you have to say is "stop writing on my page, thank you".--I hope to contact your page, within say a week.--I will try to resist being suckered into discussions on this page, which is mainly for admin business.--If this post is viewed as polite, then fine. 2001:2020:313:8B04:2D97:D952:26C0:46E2 (talk) 19:12, 21 February 2025 (UTC) /2001:2020:313:8B04:2D97:D952:26C0:46E2 (talk) 19:13, 21 February 2025 (UTC)
- "I will try to resist being suckered into discussions on this page, which is mainly for admin business" - ANI isn't just about banhammers and that's it .... there is some level of discussion and opposition to be expected especially when you're requesting a 12 hour block for someone whom you've not helped, guided or even warned.
- Simple is under-read/viewed, under-edited and under-staffed .... lets not start banning good faith people. –Davey2010Talk 20:42, 21 February 2025 (UTC)

User deletes comments per own viewpoint
Hello.
[Talk:Nikola Tesla: Difference between revisions - Wikipedia]
This is getting out of hand. Are admins allowed to delete comments without any questions asked?
My comment is isn't trolling. I didn't even write it , I've just copy-pasted what others have said in the previous discussion where he was present and had no problems with those comments back then.
Wikipedia is for all, and not for admins to push their POV without any questions asked.
I'm not even supporting an opposite viewpoint here from his own and now he's calling me a troll? Admins shouldn't be above Wikipedia rules and this is an obvious breach of Wikipedia quidelines. 78.1.126.217 (talk) 21:31, 20 February 2025 (UTC)
