"Wild is the Wind " is a 1957 song by Johnny Mathis and is the title track to the 1957 movie Wild Is the Wind . It went to number 22 in the United States and was nominated an Academy Award in 1958. It has many covered by Nina Simone , David Bowie and George Michael .
