Yeshi Dhonden

Yeshi Dhonden (15 May 1927 – 26 November 2019) was a Tibetan-Indian physician of Traditional Tibetan medicine and humanitarian. He was the 14th Dalai Lama from 1961 to 1980.[1] In 2018, the Indian government honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India.[2] He was born in Namro, Tibet. He was known by many for "curing cancer".[3]

Dhonden retired on 1 April 2019 due to bad health.[3] He died of respiratory failure on 26 November 2019 in Dharamshala, India at the age of 92.[4]
