Katakombu (kutoka neno la Kilatini catacombae) ni mahandaki yaliyotengenezwa chini ya ardhi kwa mazishi na kwa malengo ya kidini. Kwa namna ya pekee yanafikiriwa yale ya Dola la Roma.[1]

Makatakombu yote ya Roma yalipatikana nje ya ngome ya mji, kwa sababu haikuruhusiwa kuzika ndani yake,[2] yakiwapa Wakristo waliodhulumiwa na serikali mahali pa kufaa kwa kuheshimu wafiadini wao. Walikuwa wakikutana kusali katika nyumba za watu binafsi, au kwenye katakombu.

Katika mahandaki hayo inapatikana michoro ya ukutani ambayo ni kati ya kazi za kwanza za sanaa ya Kikristo.
