《故事》发行后评价褒贬不一。专辑中收录了四首单曲：〈等爱〉、〈更好的一天（英语：For a Better Day）〉、〈竭尽所能（英语：Pure Grinding）〉以及〈断了的箭〉，此外还有两首宣传单曲〈还有十天〉和〈爱上你（英语：Gonna Love Ya）〉。截至2015年11月，《故事》在全球已售出100万张[5]，并入选Spotify年度全球第四大畅销流媒体专辑[6]。

背景

2014年7月，艾维奇告诉《滚石》，他为下张专辑准备了70首歌曲，并将与瓊·邦·喬飛、比利·乔·阿姆斯特朗、克里斯·馬汀、怀克里夫·让、塞尔日·坦基扬以及Matisyahu等人进行合作。艾维奇在描述专辑时说：“它将更注重以歌曲为导向。”[7]2015年3月2日，艾维奇在澳大利亚未来音乐节（英语：Future Music Festival）进行了现场表演。而许多歌曲都从他的2015年超世代音乐节合集中泄露到了网上，其中包括〈等爱〉、〈更好的一天〉、〈街灯〉及〈上帝日落〉（当时名为〈Attack〉）[8]。完整曲目列表可在艾维奇的SoundCloud主页查看[9]。

2015年5月22日，艾维奇发行了《故事》的首支单曲〈等爱〉，歌曲由艾维奇与荷兰DJ兼制作人马丁·盖瑞斯联合制作。约一个月后，艾维奇通过Twitter表示已完成长达两年的专辑创作[10]。2015年8月4日，艾维奇在iHeartMedia大会上宣布《故事》的第二首单曲为〈更好的一天〉，由亚历克斯·埃伯特（英语：Alex Ebert）伴唱[11]。8月28日，〈更好的一天〉同第三首单曲〈竭尽所能〉发行[12]。
