Un connotation[1] es un association cultural o emotional communmente comprendite, que alcun parola o phrase porta, in addition a su acception explicite o literal, que es su denotation.
Un connotation es frequentemente describite como positive o negative, considerate su connexion emotional agradabile o disagradabile.[2] Per exemplo, un persona obstinate pote esser describite esser servicial o dur de testa; ben que illo ha identic acception literal (obstinate), servicial connota admiration pro le nivello de voluntate de alicuno (un connotation positive), dum dur de testa connota frustration in le tractamento de alcuno (un connotation negative).
