Cordia est genus plantarum florentium familiae Boraginacearum. Genus circa trecentas species fruticum et arborum continet, qui praecipue in regionibus callidoribus habitant. Multae species Anglice appellantur manjack, et multae species in Media America appellantur bocote. Nomen genericum Valerium Cordum (1515–1544) botanistam et medicamentarium (Anglice: pharmacist) Germanicum honorat.[3] Sicut plurimae aliae Boraginaceae, plurimae Cordiae habent folia trichomatibus tecta.

Ornamentalis
Multis Cordiis sunt flores speciosi et fragrantes; ergo hae plantae populo gratissimae sunt in hortis, quamquam eae non sunt robustiores.[4]
Cibus
Nonnullae species tropicae fructus edules gignunt. In India, fructus quarumdam specierum sunt pro vegetabilibus,? coctis, incoctis, vel conditis, et multis nominibus appellantur, nomine lasora in Hindi incluso. Una harum specierum est Cordia dichotoma (Anglice: fragrant manjack ; Hindi: gunda et tenti dela ; Bucculatrice (Nepali) lasura), et fructus appellatur phoà-pò·-chí (破布子), 樹子仔, vel 樹子 (POJ?: chhiū-chí) in Taivania, ubi conditi comeduntur.
Lignum
Arbores nonnullarum specierum pro commercio ligni caeduntur. In America Media et Australi, C. alliodora, C. dodecandra, C. gerascanthus, et C. goeldiana ad faciendas supellectiles et ostia adhibentur.[4] Lignum C. dodecandrae (Hispanice: ziricote)[5] et bocote[6] aliquando adhibetur pro ligno canoro (Anglice: tonewood) ad facienda terga et latera cithararum. Oecologia
Erucae nonnullarum specierum lepidopterorum, sicut Endoclita malabaricus, Bucculatrix caribbea, et Bucculatrix cordiaella, variis speciebus Cordiae vescuntur.[9] Physonota alutacea (Anglice: wild olive tortoise beetle), C. boissieri, C. dentata, C. inerme, et C. macrostachya vescitur.[10]
