മിസ്സൗറി ബൊട്ടാണിക്കൽ ഗാർഡൻ' മിസ്സൗറിയിലെ 4344 ഷോ ബോളിവാർഡ് സെന്റ് ലൂയിസിൽ ആണ് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നത്. സ്ഥാപകനും പരോപകാരിയുമായ ഹെൻറി ഷായുടെ പേരിൽ ഇത് അനൗദ്യോഗികമായി ഷാ ഗാർഡൻ എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു. 6.6 ദശലക്ഷം[3] സാമ്പിളുകൾ ഹെർബേറിയമുള്ള ഈ ഗാർഡൻ വലിപ്പത്തിൽ വടക്കൻ അമേരിക്കയിൽ രണ്ടാമത്തേതും ന്യൂയോർക്ക് ബൊട്ടാണിക്കൽ ഗാർഡന്റെ തൊട്ടുപിന്നിലുമാണ്.
ചരിത്രം
1859-ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ മിസ്സൗറി ബൊട്ടാണിക്കൽ ഗാർഡൻ യുണൈറ്റഡ് സ്റ്റേറ്റ്സിലെ ഏറ്റവും പഴക്കമുള്ള ബൊട്ടാണിക്കൽ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലൊന്നും ദേശീയ ചരിത്രപരമായ ലാൻഡ്മാർക്കും ആണ്. ഈ ഗാർഡൻ ചരിത്രപരമായ സ്ഥലങ്ങളുടെ ദേശീയ രജിസ്റ്ററിൽ പട്ടികപ്പെടുത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.
79 ഏക്കർ (32 ഹെക്ടർ) ഹോർട്ടികൾച്ചറൽ ഡിസ്പ്ലേയുള്ള സെന്റ് ലൂയിസ് നഗരത്തിലെ ഒയാസിസും, സസ്യശാസ്ത്ര ഗവേഷണത്തിനും ശാസ്ത്ര പഠനത്തിനും അന്തർദേശീയ അംഗീകാരമുളള ഒരു കേന്ദ്രവുമാണ് ഈ ഗാർഡൻ. 14 ഏക്കർ (5.7 ഹെക്ടർ) ജാപ്പനീസ് സ്ട്രോളിംഗ് ഗാർഡനും ക്ലൈമാട്രോൺ ജിയോഡെസിക് ഡോം കൺസർവേറ്ററി; ഒരു പയനിയർ ഗ്രാമം ഉൾപ്പെടെയുള്ള കുട്ടികളുടെ പൂന്തോട്ടം; ഒരു കളിസ്ഥലം; പനാമ കനാലിലെ ലോക്കിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റത്തിന് സമാനമായ ഒരു ജലധാര പ്രദേശവും വാട്ടർ ലോക്കിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റവും; ഒരു ഓസേജ് ക്യാമ്പ്; ഹെൻറി ഷായുടെ 1850 എസ്റ്റേറ്റ് ഹോം എന്നിവയും ഇതിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്നു. ഷായുടെ പൈതൃക സ്വത്തിന്റെയും ടവർ ഗ്രോവ് പാർക്കിന്റെയും തൊട്ടടുത്ത് ഇത് സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നു.[4]
