Cornel West, a philosopher, academic, and political activist, announced his campaign in the 2024 US presidential elections as a People's Party candidate on June 5, 2023. He followed that up with a video on Twitter where he called for "truth and justice".[2] On June 14, 2023, West announced he would also run for the Green Party's nomination in their primaries.[3][4]
West's campaign talks about support for Medicare for All, public housing, action on climate change, and drastically cutting the US military budget.[5]
West been polling in the mid-single digits in most general election polls,[6] and is seen as a long-shot candidate.[7][8]
