Pierre Buyoya (24 November 1935 – 17 December 2020) was a Burundian politician and soldier. He was the President of Burundi two times from 1987 to 1993 and from 1996 to 2003. Buyoya was the second longest-serving Burundian president.
Buyoya died on 17 December 2020 in Paris from COVID-19 at the age of 85.[2]
