ആഫ്രിക്ക , ഏഷ്യ , മഡഗാസ്കർ, പസഫിക് ഐലന്റ് മേഖലകളിലെ ഉഷ്ണമേഖലാ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിൽ കോഫീ കുടുംബത്തിൽ റുബിയേസീയിൽ കണ്ടുവരുന്ന പൂച്ചെടികളുടെ ഒരു ജനുസ്സാണ് ഗാർഡെനിയ.

കാൾ ലിന്നേയസും ജോൺ എല്ലിസും ചേർന്നാണ് ഈ ജനുസ്സിൽ പേര് നൽകിയിരിക്കുന്നെങ്കിലും സ്കോട്ടിഷ് വംശജനായ അമേരിക്കൻ പ്രകൃതിശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞൻ ഡോ. അലക്സാണ്ടർ ഗാർഡൻ (1730–1791) പിന്നീട് നാമകരണം ചെയ്തു.[1]
