Montserrat Caballé (Catalan: [munsəˈrat kəβəˈʎe]; born 12 Aprile 1933; deed 6 October 2018) wis a Spaingie operatic soprano. She haes sang a wide variety o roles, but Caballé is best kent as an exponent o the bel canto repertoire, notably the wirks o Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti an Verdi.[1] She came tae the attention o a much wider audience when she recordit at the request o the IOC in 1987 "Barcelona", a duet wi Freddie Mercury, the lead sangster o the Breetish rock baund Queen; the sang wis inspired bi Caballé´s hame ceety, later it wis uised as ane o the twa offeecial theme sangs for the 1992 Olympic Gemmes.
