The Tōhoku region (東北地方 Tōhoku-chihō) consists o the northeastren portion o Honshu, the lairgest island o Japan. The region consists o sax prefecturs (ken): Akita, Aomori, Fukushima, Iwate, Miyagi an Yamagata.[2]
Tōhoku retains a reputation as a remote region, afferin breathtakin scenery but a hersh climate. In the 20t century, tourism acame a major industry in the Tōhoku region.
